The Chinese Ministry of Transport is expected to meet the 2020 goal of having 300,000 new electric vehicles by the end of this year, three years ahead of schedule. That may make the challenge of battery recycling even more daunting. A recent report said power battery waste in China could jump in the coming years, reaching 248,000 tons in 2020 alone, 20 times that of 2016. As China tackles the issue of battery recycling, what measures should be taken to avert a disastrous impact on the environment?
